Does anyone know of a good website a beginner can learn Japanese from?

Japanese for beginners
Adrianna V asked:

I should mention that my computer has very slow internet connection so I cannot translate foreign symbols like Japanese but if anyone can help me out with a website that can teach me Japanese using English letters I would be very grateful. Also if anyone has any experience with any good language learning software. I am interested in getting the Rosetta Stone but it is very expensive and I do not know how well it would work. Thanks very much in advance.

Do you believe that you can benefit from watching Japanese anime to help in learning Japanese?

Japanese for beginners
bibbl_b0o asked:

I am an anime fan and I watch episodes pretty much daily. I am learning Japanese next year (obviously as a beginner) and I was wondering if you thought that it might be easier (or simpler as I would be used to listening to the language) for me to learn Japanese. So what do you reckon?

What’s the best program for learning Japanese (starting at beginner level)?

Japanese for beginners
Jeffrey C asked:

I want to learn Japanese, but of course there are way too many programs, each one saying that they’re the best. So, which one really is?
What about those programs that you have to buy (like Rosetta Stone, Pimsleur, etc.)? I’ve been looking at Instant Immersion, does anyone have any experience with it?

The thought dawned on me today. I carry around a small computer on my hip 24/7. Perhaps someone has a recommendation as to a piece of software that I could purchase or get that would teach me Japanese.
