In Italian how do you say?

italian for beginners
Klyotska asked:

1) “Sometimes, when Cici was very bored, Cici played with the sock. That was usually fun, but the sock was stinky.” (or “smelled bad” if that’s easier)
2) “Since the guy at Safeway (store) didn’t like me, Alessandra bought me and took me home.”
3) “When I first came to New York, I didn’t like it, but now I like it. But the food is better in China.”
4) “Downstairs.”

Sorry if it sounds like baby talk, I am making a movie (about a puppy) to present in my beginner Italian class so I’m trying to make it as easy to understand as possible. I’ve translated it myself, but it’s far from perfect (which is what I want it to be since it’s going on screen) so I really appreciate your help. Thanks to everyone who has already helped with other sentences! These are the last ones I’ll be asking.

Please, only translate if you know Italian.

Italian composition: does this look okay?

italian for beginners
Chelsea Isabella asked:

Hi,

I’m a beginner italian student. We recently studied Frencesco De Gregori’s famous song “Viva l’Italia.” Our assignment is to write similar lyrics, but under the subject “Viva l’America.” I’ve only started, but does this look okay?

Viva l’America
l’America la bella
l’America liberata
l’America del torta di mele
l’America del baseball
l’America del pattriottismo
Viva l’America

Viva l’America
l’America i coraggiosi
l’America forte
l’America impegnita
l’America colpita
Viva l’America

l’America il ignorante
l’America il apatico
l’America la confondeva

Ma…viva l’America
l’America del vosso, bianco e blu
l’America del aquila
l’America del statua della liberta
l’America del guerra d’indipendenza
l’America la mia patria!

I really want to learn italian, but my school does not offer the class. I decided that I’m going to start learning on my own. does anyone know of a good textbook for level one beginners? could you post what textbook series you use/used at your own school? I want to find something online, maybe a cheap book on ebay. it would be a lot of help for those who answer.
