How do you say ‘Your Welcome’ in German?

german for beginners
Sammi asked:

Last summer I took beginner classes in Learning German, but we didn’t
get that far. I know that ‘Willkommen’ means welcome, as in when
you are arriving somewhere, but I don’t know what to reply when
someone says thank you or danke. If I have made any mistakes, please correct me.
@ the second answer:
I thought bitte was please,
does it have a double meaning?
I also read somewhere that it
means something else, also,
though I can’t remember..

    Yes, use bitte.

If someone says “danke schön,” it would be acceptable to say “bitte schön” or just “bitte.”

    Bitte sehr.

  6. Sedora Says:

Yes, you either say “Bitte”, “Bitte sehr” or “Gern geschehen”.

Yes, “bitte” does mean “please”, but it is still the answer you are looking for.
The conventional answer to “Danke (sehr)” is “Bitte (schön)”

It is short for “Bitte erwähnen Sie (erwähne/ erwähnt) es nicht.”
    (= “Please don’t mention it”)

  8. Ste M Says:

Bitte, bitte sehr, or bitte schön would be used.
Bitte also means please. “Bitte?” is sometimes used as “Sorry?” is used in English when you don’t understand or haven’t heard someone properly.

  9. Waschzuber Says:

    yep, bitte has many meanings
